The Supernatural Roundtable returns with one of the most violent and chilling hauntings ever recorded: the legend of the Black Monk of Pontefract.
In 1966, the Pritchard family moved into a small home at 30 East Drive. What followed were months of terror—scratched skin, flying objects, and a dark, hooded figure that appeared without warning and watched from the shadows. Known today as the Black Monk, the entity’s presence was violent, personal, and unrelenting.
But the haunting didn’t begin with the Pritchards. Long before the house was built, this land had already seen centuries of blood. Public executions, war, rebellion, and famine left a lasting mark on the very ground beneath East Drive. From the hanging of political martyrs to the siege of Pontefract Castle, the soil was soaked in death—and some believe the land itself remembers.
In this episode, we explore the terrifying events inside the house, the documented history of violence surrounding it, and the theories that attempt to explain what still lingers there. Is it a lost soul? A manifestation of collective trauma? Or something far older and darker?
Along the way, we share pieces of our own encounters with the unexplained—fleeting shadows, oppressive stillness, things that leave you wondering if something is watching just outside the frame.
Thanks for joining us at the table. We hope you brought a light.
